Blist Hill Victorian Town

Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford

Blist Hill Victorian Town is part of the Ironbridge Experience.  Spend a day seeing how your ancestors lived in the 'Good Old Days'.  Ironbridge is just 13 miles from Newport.

The RAF Museum at Cosford houses over 70 historic aircraft in three wartime hangars.  And, there's an added bonus, admission is free.  Cosford is a mere 10 miles from Newport.

Weston Park

Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom

Weston Park has a 17th century stately home, nestling in 1,000 acres of magnificent formal gardens. Restaurant, Pets Corner, Miniature Railways, adventure playground, park & gardens.  Weston Park also plays host to the 'V' Festivals in August each year.

Weston Park is only 7 miles to the south of Newport.

One of Shropshire's most entertaining countryside attractions.  Llamas & ostriches, milking, egg collecting & lamb feeding.  Well known for it's daily events, including breathtaking sheep steeplechase.  Hoo Farm is less than 5 miles away.

Lilleshall National Sports Centre

Severn Valley Railway

Formerly the country retreat and hunting lodge for the Duke of Sutherland, Lilleshall Hall now commands an unrivalled position as the foremost venue for sporting and strategic excellence.  Now home to the flagship Lilleshall National Sports Centre, the hall and grounds are utilised to the benefit of the whole nation - indeed Lilleshall has been the training ground for some of todays top sportsmen and women from all fields and abilities.  2 miles from the centre of Newport.

Houses the biggest  collection of working steam locomotives in the country.  The line runs through 16 ,iles of the most beautiful countryside in the Midlands.  Special events throughout the year including Thomas the Tank Engine weekends.

Runs from Bridgnorth through to Kidderminster.

Bridgnorth is about 20 miles from Newport.

Hawkstone Park & Follies

Telford Town Park

One of Britain's greatest historic parklands, designated Grade 1 by English Heritage.  A woodland fantasy of caves, cliffs, concealed grottoes, secret tunnels and hidden pathways.  Hawkstone Park also has a much acclaimed golf course in the grounds of the park.  Hawkstone Park is 18 miles from Newport.

Located centrally, just a short walk from Telford Shopping Centre, the 450 acre Park is the ideal destination for a relaxing family day out.  There are safe playing areas for youngsters of all ages, nature trails, sites of special scientific interest, sports pitches, a lakeside amphitheatre and several gardens.  Telford Town Park is 8 miles west of Newport.

Benthall Hall

Telford Steam Railway

A National Trust house built of stone in the 16th century, this house has stunning interiors.  Plantsmans garden and the old kitchen garden it is well worth a visit.

A 16 miles trip out of Newport will take you there.

Telford Steam Railway is a preserved railway operated by a small and friendly team of volunteers on Sundays and Bank Holidays.  It is just 10 miles from Newport.
