Every town has groups dedicated to catering for the various need of its residents.  This page contains a selection of such groups.  Some groups have taken up the offer of a free page within this website (see Getting Listed page).

The Annual Carnival is one of the highlights on the Towns' Calendar.  The dedicated band of volunteers who run this excellent spectacle have their own page within this website.

Cosy Hall is the community centre for the town.  Various functions are catered for from exhibitions to presentations and meetings.  They have a page within this website.  More >>

Newport Dolphins Swimming Club is provided for the disabled of the area. For details of their activities go to their webpage.  More >>

The team of volunteers who are responsible for the biggest impact on visitors to the town are those who keep the floral displays in pristine condition throughout the year.  They (together with the many volunteer helpers) are a credit to themselves and the town.  Their effort have won numerous prizes for the town.  More >>

Newport & District History Society have amassed a wealth of information about the town of Newport since its 12th century beginning.  They have recently secured a grant to transfer a large number of photographs into digital format for publication into the Shropshire archives. More >>

Newport open-mic club provides the opportunity for up and coming musicians to perform in front of a live audience.  Standards vary each week.  They perform at the Royal Naval Association each Tuesday evening.  More >>

One of Britain’s premier one day shows retaining the qualities of a traditional rural show, whilst also providing the best of entertainment to make the day a great one for all our visitors. A wonderful range of attractions and entertainments for the day, we also have our magnificent showground which justifiably ranks as one of the most beautiful in the UK.

The Nocturne Cycle races are unique in the cycling calendar.  They are the only cycle races in the UK which are run after dark under floodlight.  Their future, however, is in jeopardy due to the actions of Telford & Wrekin Council.  Changes made to Newport High Street have made these races questionable.  It is a pity that they did not adequately consult the town before the changes were initiated.  More >>

The Trust has been formed in the belief that it is not too late to save the Shrewsbury & Newport Canals.  Very little of the line of the canals has been built on and no insuperable engineering problems lie in the way of restoration.  More >>

Social Groups include church groups, social clubs and associations and various other groups where people meet in pursuance of their particular interests.  More >>

As the heading shows, the sporting groups within the town are listed here. Whether it be angling, football, cricket, etc. they will appear under this listing.  More >>

The youth of any town are its future and many organisations operate within the town.  From Brownies & Beavers to Youth Clubs are covered in this listing.  More >>
