NEWPORT HISTORY SOCIETY'S SNAP PROJECT
The SNAP project aims to digitise and preserve our History Society's photographs and those of local people.
In 2005 Newport History Society re-organised their Archives and a great deal of thought was given to deciding what to do with our slides and photos. They were inaccessible to members of the public and we wished the public to have access to them.
As a result of a Local Heritage Initiative lottery grant in 2005, we embarked on a three year project to scan in all our photographs and slides, scan in other local people's photos, and add them all to a web site called 'Discover Shropshire's History'. You can look at our photo albums by using this link: newportsnapproject.org.uk
If you wish us to scan in any of your photos - they could be very old or quite recent, but they should depict the life of the town or villages nearby and local people - please contact the SNAP team on: snap.project@hotmail.co.uk
